STD/LIT/EC are accepting names for officers for next year. While Thursday's meeting was a bust in weeding out potential names (as only 3 people were able to make the short-notice meeting), we will be scheduling another meeting in a couple of weeks in order to hold elections for the offices of:
President
Vice-President
Secretary
Treasurer
If anyone would like to run for an additional office (would like to propose the creation of a new office in which to serve), please feel free to let us know.
Please note, we need to push for recruitment for these clubs because our numbers are slowly dwindling. I know that we aren't as active as some other clubs, but it has been difficult to wrangle up a trip or activity when so few members or possible members remain active. Please show your support so you don't have to see these groups, the only ones on campus to provide refuge for us artists known as "English majors" to grow, thrive, and socialize.
That being said, the next few weeks will see a spur of activity if all goes as planned. I will be talking to Dr. Wilson and my fellow officers about a few activities that will spread the word as well as the completion of our community service project. Keep your eyes peeled for the letters STD/LIT/EC on anything!

STD/LIT/EC Meeting Thursday
Dr. Wilson and I have scheduled a meeting for STD/LIT/EC on April 8th during break (12:20-1:20 approx.) in the 2nd floor Conference Room of Hill Hall. We'll be doing a student potluck, so everyone bring something yummy to share with your fellow classmates and professors too! Spread the word and I'll try to get flyers up within the next day or two!
Also, anyone from the honoraries graduating in May needs to let Dr. Wilson or myself know ASAP so that we can order the honor cords for you to wear at graduation. And if you're thinking you'd like more STD swag, check the www.english.org site and shop around. Maybe you'd like an STD tote or a sticker for your car's window! These orders have to go in with the order from Dr. Wilson, as they cannot be ordered by students separately. Let us know ASAP and get the money to DW before the order goes in.
As a reminder: the deadline to submit essays for the essay contest is TOMORROW, April 6th at 3:30pm. Drop off your essays to Hill Hall before the deadline and you have a chance to win $150!
Also, remember that the English Majors' Luncheon is just around the corner! The luncheon will be held on April 20th in the Davis gallery (I think!).
Finally, I'm not quite sure what's up with the English pages, but I'll be checking with Dr. Lidaka to see when they'll be back online. (It may have something to do with that nasty virus that took over the school!)
